George “Wayne” Pickler, an HVAC technician with the Housing and Residence Life Office, died on Sunday, July 30.
Pickler, who many colleagues called “Pick,” joined the University in October 2006, originally in the Facilities Management Department. Prior to UNC Charlotte, he worked for Food Lion.
John Storch, associate director for operations in Housing and Residence Life, said, “Wayne was a great friend, mentor and co-worker for this University for over 10 years. His warm smile, quick wit and dedication to our students will be greatly missed.”
Funeral arrangements are through Powles Staton Funeral Home of Rockwell; a visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3. The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4, in Grace Lower Stone Church. More information is online.
