University to test emergency alert system Wednesday morning

Monday, April 17, 2017

UNC Charlotte will test its new emergency alert system, Rave, on the morning of Wednesday, April 19.  This system will allow the University to send text and emails simultaneously – as well as push to other alert systems, such as the LiveSafe app and on-campus digital screens.

Some members of the University community may have already received weather-related notifications through the new system, which are automatically generated by integration with the National Weather Service.

The test message will read:

NinerAlerts: This is a test of the UNC Charlotte Emergency Alert System. This is only a test.

More information on the test, including ways to verify contact information, will be provided by email to faculty, staff, students and families.
