COAA faculty artwork featured in Georgia exhibit

Wednesday, March 8, 2017

Assistant Professor of Print Media Erik Waterkotte and part-time faculty Anna Kenar created a site-specific installation in the windows of the Westobou Gallery in Augusta, Georgia, as part of the exhibition “Outliers: The Art of Printmaking.”

“Outliers” was organized by Chadwick Tolley of Augusta University in conjunction with the 2017 Southern Graphics Council International Conference in Atlanta. The show features work by eight printmakers.

In keeping with the exhibition's theme of regional collaboration, Kenar and Waterkotte used photographs of a banyan tree, which is an epiphytic tree that grows harmlessly on another tree. These photographs were made into vectors and cut into vinyl to create an architectural graphic overlay of the banyan tree for the windows of the Westobou Gallery.

“Outliers” is on view through Sunday, April 9.
