Fall Commencement scheduled for Dec. 17

Thursday, December 1, 2016

Commencement exercises will be Saturday, Dec. 17, and will provide another opportunity to celebrate the University’s exponential growth. More than 3,500 undergraduate and graduate students will receive degrees in two ceremonies, including 75 doctoral students who completed program requirements during the summer and fall.

These graduates, and the thousands who preceded them, have contributed to the University’s maturation as North Carolina’s urban research institution. They will join the ranks of the more than 122,000 other UNC Charlotte alumni.

“The University is able to exist as it is today, in part, because of those who came before and laid the framework for the next generations of students. And now, the opportunity falls on today’s alumni to take the reins to ensure that UNC Charlotte is supported and continues its exponential trajectory,” said Chancellor Philip L. Dubois.

Earlier this semester, the University launched EXPONENTIAL: The Campaign for UNC Charlotte. With a goal to raise $200 million, the campaign will power UNC Charlotte’s future by funding scholarships for students; supporting the research and other creative activity of faculty; and investing in the rich, complete collegiate experience that is now the University's to offer.

Commencement exercises will take place on Saturday, Dec. 17, in Halton Arena, located in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center. At 10 a.m., a ceremony will be held for students from the College of Arts + Architecture, Belk College of Business, College of Computing and Informatics, William States Lee College of Engineering, College of Health and Human Services and the Graduate School.

The Cato College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the Graduate School will confer degrees at 3 p.m.

The Office of University Communications will stream both ceremonies on the web.
