UNC Charlotte and the SECC – action heroes in the community

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

The nearly 1,000 charities affiliated with the State Employees Combined Campaign are in the Giving Green Campaign spotlight this week. This short film features UNC Charlotte employees sharing how they are staking their claim with an SECC nonprofit.

All faculty and staff members who make a gift or pledge to an SECC charity by 5 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, are nominees for Best Supporter – which deserves a prize – a UNC Charlotte VIP Men’s Basketball Seat Package that includes four lower level seats, four pre-game hospitality passes and VIP parking to a Charlotte 49ers men’s basketball game against any opponent during the 2015-16 season. Plus, Thursday, Oct. 8, is one of the campaign’s weekly Sweepstakes Days, with drawings throughout the day for special awards.

All North Carolina agencies compete for State Employees Combined Campaign awards. UNC system institutions are grouped by total number of workers employed. Last year, UNC Greensboro was recognized for its SECC efforts to achieve the highest per capita giving level among UNC institutions with 1,500 to 4,999 employees. Five UNC system institutions were honored for organizing the largest total SECC campaigns among all state agencies: UNC Chapel Hill, N.C. State University, UNC Greensboro, East Carolina University and Appalachian State University.
