Bank of America is a major employer in the Charlotte region, and a large number of UNC Charlotte graduates work for the global financial services leader.

Recently, the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association held a reception for Bank of America employees who are University alums. Nearly 200 attended the event where Chancellor Philip L. Dubois provided them with an update on their alma mater, and how the University and Bank of America have forged a beneficial, long-term relationship.

“Bank of America has a strong connection to North Carolina’s urban research university, and through events such as this reception, the UNC Charlotte Alumni Association is partnering with local companies that have a strong presence of alumni and friends of the University to further these relationships,” said Jenny Jones, executive director of alumni affairs. “We want to connect our current students to alumni and area employers to promote future internship and career opportunities. We also hope our alumni will stay connected with their alma mater and seek ways to engage with current and future students as mentors and supporters.”

Cathy Bessant, a global technology and operations executive at Bank of America and member of the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees, attended the reception, along with Julie Harris, CFO, global commercial banking, and member of the UNC Charlotte Foundation Board.

Attendees from the University included Bob Johnson, dean of the Lee College of Engineering; Steve Ott, dean of the Belk College of Business; Mark Price, head men’s basketball coach; Judy Rose, director of athletics; and Niles Sorensen, vice chancellor for the Division for University Advancement.
