Andrews joins Charlotte Research Institute

Clay Andrews is the assistant director for corporate partnerships at the Charlotte Research Institute; he joined the University March 2.

Prior to UNC Charlotte, Andrews was the director of investor and public relations for the Upstate SC Alliance, a regional economic development marketing organization that promotes 10 counties in South Carolina’s upstate. He also was the vice president of investor relations for the Charlotte Regional Partnership, the business recruiter for the Cabarrus Regional Partnership and the executive director of the Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation. He was recognized as one of the Charlotte region’s “Forty Under 40” by the Charlotte Business Journal.

In his work with the Cabarrus Economic Development Corporation, Andrews helped recruit projects such as ACN, Connextions, FlyRight Inc., Great Wolf Lodge and Resort, PreGel America and Windshear Inc. He was part of the team that helped with marketing for the $1.5 billion North Carolina Research Campus, too.

A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Andrews earned a Master of Business Administration from Winthrop University. He is a certified economic developer through the International Economic Development Council.
