Wednesday, October 15, 2014

William Brandon, the Metrolina Medical Foundation Distinguished Professor of Public Policy in Health at UNC Charlotte, will be among the panelists for “Healthcare for All – Can We Make it Happen?" This discussion will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26, at Myers Park Baptist Church, 1900 Queens Rd.

Joining Brandon will be Jessica Schorr Saxe, a Charlotte physician and chair of Health Care Justice – N.C., and Wayne Goodwin, North Carolina insurance commissioner.  Ed Williams, a former editor of the Charlotte Observer's editorial pages, will moderate the discussion.

The panelists are expected to address such questions as:  If the goal is to provide adequate health care for all, how is the current system working? How could it work better? What are the barriers to doing that? What can individuals do to achieve that goal?

Questions from the audience will follow the presentations. Then, Rabbi Michael Shields of Temple Kol Tikvah of Lake Norman and the Rev. Robin Coira of Myers Park Baptist will offer religious perspectives on the discussion.
