Gene Johnson (’73), chair of EXPONENTIAL: The Campaign for UNC Charlotte, and Beth Fischer (pictured), UNC Charlotte’s executive director for development, also were in Washington, D.C., visiting UNC Charlotte donors. As part of their trip, they stopped by Capitol Hill to visit U.S. Rep. Richard Hudson (’96), UNC Charlotte’s sole alumnus in Congress.

 


 

 


Learning about Charlotte’s Urban Research University

Rep. Scott Stone

Earlier this semester, Rep. Scott Stone (pictured) gave the keynote address at the Niner Research Reception held on campus. The event, sponsored by the Office of Research and Economic Development, honors UNC Charlotte faculty grant recipients and others engaged in research on campus.






Rep. Edward Hanes and Chancellor Dubois

Rep. Edward Hanes Jr. (pictured) recently visited the University; he toured campus and met with Chancellor Dubois and Betty Doster, special assistant to the chancellor for constituent relations. As a member of the House Education-Universities Committee, Hanes is visiting all 17 campuses within the UNC system.

  • Alicia Dasch (’11 MPA, ’07 BA political science) elected to the Tega Cay City Council
  • Karen Alexander (’97 MS architecture), elected to Salisbury City Council
