1. Bulletin Board:
The N.C. General Assembly appointed Teross Young (’93) and Dennis Bunker (’81) to the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees. In addition, the Board of Governors appointed J. Brett Keeter (’99) and re-appointed Theresa J. Drew, Mary Ann Rouse (’80) and Michael L. Wilson (’93). All six began their four-year terms on July 1. Bunker, Keeter and Young all previously served together on the Alumni Association Board.

2. Olympic Flame:
Former Charlotte 49ers track and field standout Briauna Jones was named USA Bobsled 2016-17 Rookie of the Year after her first season as a push athlete with the USA National team. A native of Summerville, South Carolina, Jones hopes to become the Charlotte 49ers first student-athlete to make a U.S. Olympic team.
3. Ladies Night:
The ever-popular “Ladies Night Out Football Clinic,” hosted by Brad and Angie Lambert, is 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 31. Enjoy dinner, drinks and activities while on- and off-field drills prepare you for the season. Space is limited - register before spots fill up.
4. #Winning:
Professor Steven Rogelberg, director of the Organizational Science doctoral program, is the recipient of the inaugural Industrial and Organizational Psychology Humanitarian Award. Rogelberg oversaw creation of the Volunteer Assessment Program that provided free management assessment services to hundreds of nonprofits. Congrats, Steven!
5. Feel the FIRE:
UNC Charlotte has earned the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education’s (FIRE’s) highest “green light” rating for its commitment to the First Amendment. North Carolina now has five institutions with this rating, more than any other state.
