Five Cool Things

Amir Naeem's artwork for the Emerging City Champion award

1. Mold Breakers

These alums are shaking things up: Amir Naeem was awarded $5,000 to bring jukeboxes to public spaces along the Lynx Blue Line Light Rail, while SouthPark Magazine lauded the work of youth advocate Keith Cradle, and Chris Elmore, “Evangelist” and co-founder of AvidXchange.

Elizabeth Kowalski

2. "Lucky" Break

After her left hand was badly injured in an accident, Elizabeth Kowalski’s hopes of being a career pianist all but vanished. Morphing her misfortune into opportunity, the Harrisburg native turned to composing, finished two music degrees and started a festival. Check out the seventh annual Charlotte New Music Festival (CNMF) offering concerts and workshops through June 30.
