Entrepreneurial and innovation-driven ventures compete for top prize at the 2018 Charlotte Venture Challenge, May 1 at UNC Charlotte Center City. This year there are three competitive categories: Student Innovation, UNC Charlotte Research Innovation and Community Entrepreneur Innovation.

2. View from the Top

Margaret Spellings, president of the 17-campus UNC System, kicked off her State of the University tour March 19 at UNC Charlotte Center City. Spellings also visited the University’s Charlotte Teacher Early College and took a ride on the new LYNX Blue Line Extension.

3. Commuting in Style

To celebrate the arrival of light rail on campus, the Charlotte 49ers baseball team traveled from campus to BB&T Ballpark to play the North Carolina Tar Heels. Alumni came out to cheer on the team as they made the walk to the stadium through Uptown.

Eight deserving student-, faculty- or alumni-driven Crowdfund UNC Charlotte projects are underway. The online platform harnesses the power of the community to help UNC Charlotte students, faculty and staff raise money to fuel their passions, innovations and ideas. 5. Green Links

On April 27, golfers tee off at the annual “On the Green” Golf Tournament. Proceeds will support both the P.J. Briggs Scholarship and the Recreational Services Student Development Fund. Learn more and register here.
