1. New Frontiers

2. The Champions

UNC Charlotte’s Ice Hockey Club recently won the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League Championship for the first time in school history. In the title game, the team defeated Wake Forest University 6-2.


3. Prestigious Award

With Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles on hand, the first two recipients of the Harper-Thomas Legacy Endowment for Study Abroad were announced on Thursday, March 8, at a Black Alumni Chapter event at the Levine Museum for the New South in uptown Charlotte. DeVante Thomas-Pittman and Kendra Shaw are the inaugural recipients of the award, which is through the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The award honors emeritus professors Mary Harper and Herman Thomas, who each spent more than 30 years helping to recruit, educate, prepare and retain talented but often underserved students and their successors.


4. Nature Boy

Award-winning documentarian Rory Karpf delivers UNC Charlotte’s Levine Lecture on Tuesday, March 27, at the Levine Museum of the New South. His most recent work was for ESPN on the film,  “Nature Boy,” which focused on the complicated life of professional wrestling superstar Ric Flair. The event is free and open to the public; registration required.


5. Niner Central

Niner Central, which opened Tuesday, March 13, is an innovative solution to eliminate students being shuffled between different University business units when they need to resolve financial or registration issues. Located in the Cone University Center, Niner Central will deliver comprehensive services for students. In addition, a new websitewill serve as a single resource for the students.
