Campus Construction

While students and faculty may be headed for winter break, campus construction shows no signs of slowing down. We’ve got the latest updates on several major projects.

The Christine F. Price Center for Counseling and Psychological Services

The Christine F. Price Center for Counseling and Psychological Services is the newest addition to campus and honors the enduring spirit of alumna Christine Price (’82). Located next to the Student Health Center, the facility supports the holistic well-being and academic success of UNC Charlotte students.

University Recreation Center

Adjacent to the Popp Martin Student Union, earthwork is underway for the new University Recreation Center. Get a peek at the planned layout here.

The $63.5 million, 140,000-square-foot facility will include aerobic and weight training rooms, group fitness areas, multipurpose courts and a recreational pool. The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2019.

Admissions and Visitors Center

A new 18,000-square-foot Admissions and Visitors Center will start construction in early 2018.  Located near the University’s main entrance on University City Boulevard, this novel facility will welcome prospective students to campus, house undergraduate admissions offices and serve as a starting point for campus orientation and tours.

Union Deck Expansion

Meanwhile, the Union Deck Expansion project is in full swing.  To mitigate vehicle congestion around the area, contractors sometimes arrive as early as 2 a.m. The deck remains open during construction with limited exceptions, but traffic patterns may change as the project proceeds. When completed in May 2018, the expansion will add 570 parking spaces to that area of campus.
