1. Outstanding: When Gene Johnson ('73) commits, he goes all in. The alum and EXPONENTIAL Campaign chair was recently named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for exemplary service to the state of North Carolina.

2. Playing the Field: Charlotte 49ers defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi will participate in Reeseā€™s Senior Bowl on Jan. 28 in Mobile, Alabama.

3. Guest of Honor: Chancellor Philip L. Dubois spoke to business and community leaders at the Uptown Charlotte Rotary Club. Highlights included record enrollment, five-year capital plan and contributions to the Charlotte region.

4. International Merit: University faculty member and scholar Tanure Ojaide was named the 2016 recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit in humanities by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
