Preparing high school students with disabilities to transition to college or careers requires interagency cooperation and proven strategies, which will be the focus of a new national technical assistance center to be housed at UNC Charlotte’s College of Education.

The University Career Center for Work, Service and Internships is cosponsoring a “Peace Corps Alumni Panel and Information Session” at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the College of Health and Human Services, Room 376.

The Department of Theatre will present “The Merry Wives” from Thursday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Nov. 2, in the Black Box Theater of the Robinson Hall for the Performing Arts.

UNC Charlotte faculty members are actively engaged in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, the disciplinary, cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary study of teaching practice and student learning.

Geography and Earth Science Department’s Jean-Claude Thill, Knight Distinguished Professor and director of Project Mosaic, is the most recent winner of a $250 U.S. Airways gift card. The prize was an incentive in this year’s Giving Green campaign to encourage participants to support the Arts & Science Council.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) will host a screening of the documentary/comedy “The Muslims are Coming!” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct.29, in the Cone University Center After Hours Lounge. Afterward, there will be a discussion with the director and one of the comedians featured in the documentary.

UNC Charlotte will celebrate Homecoming 2014 on Saturday, Oct. 25, as the 49ers take on James Madison University at noon in Richardson Stadium. The game will be broadcast on WCCB-TV in Charlotte. A number of activities are scheduled leading up to the Homecoming game. They include:

Andrew Hartley, Robinson Distinguished Professor of Theatre, and theatre major Casey King, will be the guests on the Oct. 23 edition of “The Live Wire,” Inside UNC Charlotte’s streaming webcast. They will discuss the Department of Theatre production of "The Merry Wives," which runs Thursday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Nov.

Phil Jones, associate vice chancellor for facilities, will be the guest on the Oct. 30 edition of “The Live Wire,” Inside UNC Charlotte’s streaming webcast. He will discuss the University's growth during the past 10 years and current renovations under way. Employees can watch “The Live Wire” at their desks or on their mobile devices starting at 2 p.m..

UNC Charlotte’s Title IX Office, the Center for Wellness Promotion and Dean of Students Office, in conjunction with the Feminist Union, will present the four-part series “Forty IX'ers: Know Your Title IX.” The series will offer panel discussions, resources and additional learning opportunities related to Title IX and the Violence Against Women Act (also called Campus SaVE).

UNC Charlotte students interested in solving community social problems are invited to form teams to compete at the 2015 University of North Carolina Social Entrepreneurship Conference.
