Brittany Davis, a marketing assistant and graphic designer for the Student Union, Activities and Recreation Department, was recognized at the Association of College Unions International (ACUI) conference held earlier this month.
Three College of Liberal Arts & Sciences faculty members will be honored for teaching excellence, during an awards event at 2:30 p.m., Monday, April 28, in Cone University Center, Room 210.
The award winners are:
Sanjaya Mayadunne, a doctoral student in computing and information systems (business information systems and operations management track), will defend “Competitive Store Closing During an Economic Downturn: A Mathematical Programming Approach” at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, May 1, in the Friday Building, Room 381. Cem Saydam and Monica Johar are the dissertation advisors.
Eleven faculty members whose combined service to the University totaled more than 240 years were honored at an annual event Thursday, April 17, at the Harris Alumni Center and Johnson Glen. They will enter the ranks of retired faculty at the end of the spring semester.
Members of the Governors Association of Korea recently visited UNC Charlotte’s Energy Production and Infrastructure Center as part of a tour of the Southeastern United States. The group learned more about energy collaboration at the city and state levels.
Kyle White, a UNC Charlotte alumnus, will be awarded the Medal of Honor during a White House ceremony on May 13. He will be the seventh living recipient to be awarded the medal for service in Afghanistan or Iraq.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has awarded seven new research grants totaling almost $1.4 million to faculty researchers in the Lee College of Engineering’s departments of Engineering Technology and Construction Management (ETCM) and Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE).
Ten exemplary students were acknowledged during the annual Honors and Awards Program held Monday, April 14, in the Student Union. The ceremony recognized students’ outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.

This amateur photography competition is open to all graduate students enrolled at any UNC system campus. Entries will be accepted through Friday, May. 9.
