Michaella Arteta can be described in many ways, but the best word to describe this student-athlete is “leader.” A senior captain on the women’s soccer team, Arteta has triumphed as a 49er and will lead her team and other fellow athletes this season both on and off the field.
For the second straight year, Charlotte 49ers redshirt senior quarterback Chris Reynolds is one of the nation’s top 80 players named to the National College Football Awards Association’s Maxwell Trophy Watch List. The Maxwell Trophy is presented annually to the college player of the year by the Maxwell Football Club.
Charlotte 49ers four-year starting defensive end Tyriq Harris was named to the 2020-21 Academic All-America Division I football second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Tyler Hancock joins UNC Charlotte as special teams coordinator for the 49ers football program. He comes to the University from West Virginia University where he served as senior analyst for special teams for two years.

The Charlotte 49ers football team, under the leadership of head coach Will Healy, will play this year’s spring game at noon, Saturday, April 24, in Richardson Stadium. This event will be open to the public with stadium seating of 3,890 in accordance with current state health guidelines that call for limited capacity and social distancing. Face coverings will be required.
The Charlotte 49ers have hired Tony Cordova as director of sports medicine. In this role, he will serve as the head athletic trainer for the football program.
