The UNC Charlotte Center City Projective Eye Gallery will launch an inaugural “summer experiment,” which will feature a performance installation that brings together dance, song, sculpture and design.

The German Language and Culture Foundation recently awarded $44,000 in scholarships to support study abroad in Germany during this summer and the 2012-13 academic year.

Two groups of visitors from seven different provinces in China arrived in Charlotte this week as part of trip to the United States coordinated by the University’s Center for China Studies. According to Paul Friday, director of the China Center and a professor of criminal justice and criminology at UNC Charlotte, the visit includes two separate and independent groups.

Insurance can be complicated, but the Student Health Center’s Kelly Proctor assists students and parents through the entire procedure. As insurance coordinator, Proctor is one of two individuals who administer the University’s student health insurance plan and waiver process.

As an academic advisor for the College of Health and Human Services, Sara Potts focuses on helping students navigate their undergraduate careers in preparation for either graduate school or professional careers. Potts said she remembers being that uncertain freshman at Valdosta State University and can empathize with her advisees.

Each semester and during the summer, Kelly Franklin welcomes hundreds of international students seeking greater English language proficiency onto campus. As director of the English Language Training Institute, housed in the Office of International Programs, Franklin has oversight for all facets of the operation. 

An all-conference athlete as a UNC Charlotte undergraduate, Ozlem Cankurtaran now employs her skills as a network specialist with the Information Technology Services Office. The former varsity scholarship volleyball player traveled to the Queen City from her home of Istanbul, Turkey, in 1997. She said she was unsure of what to expect.

The most successful motorsports engineers have theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience. Lee College of Engineering’s Luke Woroniecki provides students with aspects of both.

UNC Charlotte Center City has been open for less than a year, but it quickly has become a popular venue for meetings and events. Juggling the many requests for space in the facility is Amanda Arganbright.
