Harris Alumni Center selected for UNC presidential search session

Monday, May 25, 2015

UNC Charlotte will host a regional input session on Monday, June 1, to enable the campus community and the public to provide feedback into the search process for the next UNC system president.

The UNC Board of Governors has started a search for UNC President Tom Ross’ successor; Ross will step down in January 2016.

The June 1 regional session will be at 7 p.m. in the Harris Alumni Center at Johnson Glen; UNC Charlotte will broadcast a live stream of the event, too, on Inside UNC Charlotte. Three other regional sessions are scheduled for UNC Asheville, East Carolina University and N.C. Central University.

These sessions are being held to provide “interested individuals across the state an opportunity to help define the essential skills, experience and characteristics needed in the next UNC president.”

UNC Board of Governors Chairman John Fennebresque said, “We are committed to finding a proven leader with the experience, skills and vision needed to build on the University’s long tradition of excellence and further its mission of teaching, research and service to the state. This search process is designed to help us find the next leader who will continue to move the UNC system forward and ensure that our public University remains America’s best.  We welcome and need public input.”
