Mary Kate Hiller

Sophomore, Charlotte 49ers Women's Golf Team

Mary Kate Hiller, a sophomore from Florida, is an inaugural member of the Charlotte 49ers women's golf team debuting this fall. According to Hiller, the program was a one-of-a-kind opportunity she couldn't pass up.

“I was very interested in UNC Charlotte when they announced they were going to have their first women's golf team,” said Hiller. “It's an awesome opportunity to be a part of a pilot program and set the standard for women’s golf at UNC Charlotte.”

Hiller is excited about attending UNC Charlotte and plans for a major in accounting, yet was perhaps most intrigued to work with Head Coach Holly Clark and benefit from the Charlotte region. With ideal golfing weather and signature courses at Pinehurst, Quail Hollow and Hilton Head, the Carolinas have become something of a golfing mecca.

“This is the perfect area,” Clark said. “Charlotte is so perfect for golf in general. We have 25 golf courses in a 30-mile radius of this campus. And they’re not just any golf courses; they’re incredible.”
