With new scholarship, undergraduate pursues deeper understanding of Black History
As the inaugural recipient of the new Gregory Mixon-Sonya Ramsey Black Lives Matter Scholarship from the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Candace Silver continues to grow her understanding and appreciation for the contributions and struggles of Black people throughout history.

- UNC Charlotte Rocketry Team — No.1 in the NASA 2021 Student Launch competition: The UNC Charlotte 49er Rocketry Team won first place overall in this year’s NASA Student Launch competition. The team of Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology students placed first in the payload and altitude portions of the competition and third in safety.
- Vincent Ogunro awarded Fulbright to conduct research, lecture in Nigeria: The U.S. Department of State and the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced that Dr. Vincent (Tobi) Ogunro of UNC Charlotte has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to Nigeria.
MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS
Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science professor Steven Schmid co-authored an article that discussed how manufacturing is essential to supporting military operations.
Sociology and Organizational Science professor Jill Yavorsky commented on an article written by professor emeritus Bryan Robinson about workplace discrimination.
