University Hosts Legislative Committee

Members of the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Information Technology were on campus recently to study issues related to technology in state government and important trends in the technology sector.

During the visit, Steve Ott, dean of the Belk College of Business, and Betty Doster, special assistant to the chancellor for constituent relations, provided an overview of UNC Charlotte’s Data Science and Business Analytics initiative, which involves the Belk College and the College of Computing and Informatics with input from the College of Health and Human Services.

Chris Estes, the state’s chief information officer, also spoke to committee members. Rep. Jason Saine (’95) and Sen. Andrew Brock are co-chairs of the Legislative IT Committee.
