- Girl Power: Women’s sports have a lot to celebrate at UNC Charlotte. First, women’s soccer clinched the Conference USA championship – for the third time. Second, the 13th annual Let Me Play luncheon, benefiting women’s sports scholarships, raised $208,000. Play on!
- Home Sweet Home: The iconic bronze statue “49er Miner,” has a new home – the plaza between the Cato College of Education and the College of Health and Human Services. The move, led by students, allows greater access to one of the campus’ most beloved and prized photo opps.
- Wrapped Around your Finger: The Alumni Association debuted the official UNC Charlotte 49er Ring with nine distinctive designs. Developed by students and alums, the ring captures the essence of Niner Nation.
- What Does the Foxx Say?: Former Charlotte Mayor and current U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx visited campus to tour development of the LYNX Blue Line Extension, connecting campus to the center of Charlotte. The extension was one of the last things he did as mayor; he says, “Outstanding.”
- Following the Millennial Lead: They’re a philanthropic bunch – students take the lead in crowdfunding their own projects like a NASA student launch competition and attending the Student Veterans of America National Conference in Anaheim, CA.
