Orange construction cones and barrels have become a familiar sight - what else do you expect from the UNC system’s fastest-growing campus? Boasting upward of 28,000 students, the University is keeping pace with new dorms, redesigned entrances, structural renovations and the most anticipated project of all: light rail.
Levine Hall
The newest residential facility, Levine Hall, is on track to open in late 2016. Named for Leon and Sandra Levine, the 160,000-square-foot building will house more than 400 students, including those from the Levine Scholars Program and the Honors College, along with their program offices.

Traffic signal at University City and Cameron Boulevards
Known as campus’ South Entrance, the intersection of University City Boulevard (N.C. Hwy 49) and Cameron Boulevard will have a new traffic signal. An additional turn lane and pedestrian crossing signals will improve the flow of vehicle and foot traffic. Cameron Boulevard has been widened to add a median and bricked sidewalks.

Resurfacing of Belk Track
During the past few months, the surface and underlying asphalt base of Irwin Belk Track was removed and a new surface installed. In addition, new drainage and fencing were added around the track and the pole vault landing was extended. Check out the improvements.

Light Rail
The LYNX Blue Line Extension remains on schedule for passenger service beginning in August 2017. The 9.3-mile line will run from UNC Charlotte Center City (at Ninth and N. Brevard streets) along North Tyron, with the final two stops at J.W. Clay and main campus. Visit lightrail.uncc.edu for the latest updates.
