Alumni Celebrate a New Home

On a rainy football game day, alumni and friends were warmed by celebrating something long in the making:  the Hauser Alumni Pavilion. Several hundred tailgaters cheered as the Hausers were honored before the Charlotte 49ers took on the Florida Atlantic Owls, Sept. 26.

The Hauser Alumni Pavilion is an 8,000-square-foot brick-and-steel structure with space to accommodate up to 700 located along 49er Way (the pedestrian path  between main campus and the stadium). It features a catering station, restrooms and utilities for outside entertainment—the perfect setting for alumni tailgates.

The pavilion was a gift from longtime UNC Charlotte supporters David (’77) and Nancy (’77) Hauser. David has served on the UNC Charlotte Board of Trustees for several years and played a role in bringing football to campus.

Now retired, David held numerous high-level executive positions during his career, including chairman and CEO at FairPoint Communications and CFO at Duke Energy.
