Botanical Gardens to hold Spring Plant Sale

Monday, April 8, 2013

The annual UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens Spring Plant Sale will be Friday, April 19, through Sunday, April 21, at the McMillan Greenhouse.

A major fundraising event, the sale will feature a botanical extravaganza of wildflowers, trees and shrubs, perennials, carnivorous plants, orchids, tropicals and indoor plants.

“For anyone who is looking to increase the variety of  native plants in their garden, we’re the best source in Charlotte,” said Paula Gross, assistant director of the gardens.

Staff and volunteers will be available to answer questions and assist with plant selection. Cash and checks will be accepted during the sale. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday.

Sale attendees on Saturday, April 20, should keep in mind that the University is holding its first-ever spring football scrimmage starting at 1 p.m. Entry onto campus will be restricted to the main entrance off University City Boulevard (Hwy 49) or from John Kirk Road. Parking attendants should direct individuals coming to the sale to Parking Lot 16 near the McMillan Greenhouse.
