Ryan Miller, assistant professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, recently was selected for a fellowship at the National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement.

The center, housed at the Washington, D.C., location of the University of California, explores how the fundamental democratic principles of free speech and civic engagement must adapt to the challenges and opportunities of modern society.

Miller, who is among the fourth class of fellows named by the National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement, will research college and university bias response teams and explore emerging institutional alternatives to these teams. He was one of eight individuals selected for this one-year research fellowship through a competitive process involving graduate students and faculty members from institutions nationwide.
