Controller to attend UNC System Executive Leadership Institute
Tuesday, May 11, 2021

Laura Williams, UNC Charlotte’s controller, was part of a select group of 24 participants named to the UNC System Executive Leadership Institute.

The Controller’s Office manages the mechanics of the flow of the University’s money including cutting checks, issuing direct deposits or collecting payments from students. The office also coordinates the year-end financial process by preparing and reporting annual financial statements.

As Williams continues her role as controller, she will participate in the second cohort of this program designed to build the next generation of top leadership from within the UNC System. The focus will be on enhancing the pool of well-prepared, highly qualified future leaders from historically minority-serving institutions.

The 10-month program will provide an overview of the UNC System, its operations and future leadership opportunities. The institute develops leadership skills by sharing best practices and forming partnerships among participants and their institutions. Members will benefit from executive coaching on an individual level and in a team setting.
