UPDATE: ROTC event for Monday postponed

The ROTC recruitment event planned for Monday,  which included landing Apache helicopters on campus, has been postponed because of unforeseen circumstances related to maintenance issues. A new date will be shared with campus when it is finalized.

In conjunction with the Army National Guard, UNC Charlotte’s Army ROTC program will conduct two exercises on campus next week. Both events will involve air assets, and helicopters may be seen landing and taking off from campus during this time.

  • Monday, March 15, 9 to 11 a.m. — The Army National Guard will conduct a recruiting event for ROTC cadets, which includes landing two Apache helicopters on campus on the hammer throw field (field 5), located behind the indoor softball training facility.
  • Friday, March 19, early morning — The Army National Guard will be on campus for a training event with cadets, and helicopters may be seen briefly on or around campus in the early morning hours. The CRI Lot 2 will be used for this purpose. All vehicles should be moved from CRI Lot 2 by 10 p.m., Thursday, March 18 in anticipation of the event. Parking will be available in CRI Deck while the CRI Lot 2 is closed. The exercise should be concluded by 9 a.m.

In the event of adverse weather, both events will be postponed or canceled.
