Friday, January 29, 2021

Charlotte 49ers men’s soccer redshirt senior defender Patrick Hogan was named to the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List.  The MAC Hermann Trophy is considered the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. Hogan is one of 34 players on the men’s watch list.

In 2019, Hogan played an integral role on a 49ers defense that led Conference USA in goals allowed (14) and was seventh in the nation with a league-best 0.66 goals against average to go along with eight shutouts. In Conference USA play, the 49ers’ defense recorded four shutouts while only conceding three goals.

Recently, Hogan was selected as the Conference USA Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

The MAC Hermann Trophy Watch Lists are compiled by members of the United Soccer Coaches Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division I All-America committees. Fifteen semifinalists will be named for both the men’s and women’s MAC Hermann Trophy at the end of April based on voting by Division I coaches, and from those candidates, three finalists will be determined for the coveted award. The winners will be announced May 27 at the 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Press Conference and Banquet taking place at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
