Gov. Cooper announces Modified Stay-at-Home Order for North Carolina

Wednesday, December 9, 2020

On Tuesday, Dec. 8, Gov. Roy Cooper announced that North Carolina will begin a modified stay-at-home order in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. The order requires individuals to stay home between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each day and takes effect Friday, Dec. 11, 2020. It remains in place until at least Jan. 8, 2021.

Individuals are still able to leave their homes between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. in order to travel to and from work; to obtain food, medical care, fuel or social services; and for travel necessary for personal safety and other exceptions. Employees do not need documentation from the University to demonstrate they are traveling to or from campus for work.

All faculty, staff and students should follow the directives outlined in the governor’s modified stay-at-home order, including wearing face coverings and maintaining proper physical distancing from others. More information can be found in the state’s FAQ document
