Wednesday, October 14, 2020

For the second consecutive year, Charlotte 49ers redshirt senior offensive lineman Jaelin Fisher is on the Watch List for the Rimington Trophy, which is presented annually to the top center in college football.

Now in his third season as the 49ers starting center, Fisher has anchored an offensive line that has produced a 1,000-yard rusher in each of the last two seasons. He was chosen as a team captain for the 2020 season. Charlotte led C-USA with a 203.0 rushing average, last year and was fifth in the league in 2018.

Charlotte's offensive line was the only unit from C-USA to earn a spot on the Joe Moore Midseason Honor Roll in 2019 and the 49ers ranked 32nd in the FBS in fewest sacks allowed.

Earlier this fall, Fisher was named to the 2020 Outland Trophy Watch List awarded to the nation's top interior lineman. Wearer of the 49ers honorary no. 49 jersey for the 2019 game at top-ranked Clemson, Fisher earned 2020 preseason all-Conference USA second team honors from Athlon Sports and Phil Steele publications.
