Vote early at Belk Gym starting Oct. 15
Monday, October 5, 2020

In-person early voting for the Nov. 3 election begins Thursday, Oct. 15, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 31. UNC Charlotte’s Belk Gym is a convenient early voting site at which students, faculty, staff and members of the public can cast their ballots.

UNC Charlotte’s 49er Democracy Experience offers these reminders about early voting;

  • During the early voting period, individuals can register to vote and vote on the same day at any of the designated early voting locations in Mecklenburg County or in their home county.
  • You will not need a photo ID to vote in the election if you are already registered to vote in Mecklenburg County.
  • Check your registration status or view a sample ballot using the N.C. Voter Lookup Tool.
  • If you live off campus in Mecklenburg County, you may choose to register and vote at Belk Gym. If you live outside Mecklenburg County and do not want to vote in Mecklenburg County, locate your One-Stop Voting site.
  • A list of Mecklenburg County One-Stop Early Voting sites is on the web; the list includes dates and times of operation. Here are links to One-Stop Early Voting Site information for Cabarrus County, Gaston County, Iredell County and Union County.

Registering to vote or updating your registration onsite during early voting:

  • Live on campus? Simply show your housing.uncc.edu account and student ID to the election official.
  • Live off campus? Show your student ID and proof of residency, which includes a utility bill, lease, North Carolina driver’s license, or any other government issued photo ID or document that shows your current address and name.

Parking is available in Lot 7

Voters will not be required to show photo ID for elections held in 2020

The 49er Democracy Experience offers the campus a dynamic, nonpartisan platform for learning about and engaging in civic life. Launched before the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, the 49er Democracy Experience involves students in local, state and national elections through voter registration, voter education and voter mobilization.
