IEE, NSFS to host Tamika Mallory for virtual event

The Office of Identity, Equity and Engagement (IEE) and New Student & Family Services (NSFS) invite the UNC Charlotte community to a “Conversation with Tamika Mallory” at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Mallory is a nationally recognized organizer and the co-founder of Until Freedom, an intersectional social justice organization that addresses systemic racial injustice. Through Until Freedom, she has led efforts to fight for justice for Atatiana Jefferson, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, along with other victims of police violence and oppression.

Prior to launching Until Freedom in 2019, Mallory was co-president of Women’s March. For her work as a leader in the fight against police brutality and gun violence, she was recognized as one of the 2017 Time 100 Most Influential People and Forbes 50 Most Powerful Leaders. She co-hosts “Street Politicians” with Mysonne Linen on NewsOne.

The Oct. 7 virtual event will follow a question-and-answer format and hosted via Zoom. Pre-registration is required and closes at noon, Tuesday, Oct. 6, or until spots are filled. A confirmation email will be sent to registered participants.
