Counterterrorism expert to address ‘Is America Winning?’

Lt. Gen. Michael Nagata, former director of the National Counterterrorism Center, will present “Is America Winning?” at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, as part of the spring 2020 International Speaker Series.

Nagata assumed the position of director, Directorate of Strategic Operational Planning at the National Counterterrorism Center, on May 13, 2016. Previously, he was commander, Special Operations Command Central, a sub-unified command of the U.S. Central Command, from June 2013 to October 2015.

A native of Virginia, Nagata graduated from Georgia State University and was commissioned as an infantry officer in 1982. He initially served as a platoon leader in the 2d Infantry Division before volunteering for Army Special Forces in 1984. 

The Office of International Programs, in conjunction with the World Affairs Council of Charlotte, the Atkins Library and the Department of Global Studies sponsors International Speaker Series events.
