The Charlotte 49ers have three players competing in this week's 95th annual East-West Shrine Bowl, which will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 18, in St. Petersburg, Florida. NFL Network will televise the event, which is the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation and gives top college players a chance to showcase their talents to NFL scouts and a national television audience.
Offensive lineman Cameron Clark, defensive end Alex Highsmith and running back Benny LeMay, who all completed their senior seasons at the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl in December, will take part in the game and the week-long activities.
"We are so unbelievably proud of Alex, Benny and Cam for being a part of the East-West Shrine Bowl," 49ers head coach Will Healy said. "They played such important roles in building this program—not just on the field, but also as leaders and students—and they absolutely deserve to experience success on the next level."
Charlotte's three representatives are the most from a Conference USA school and the 49ers are one of three teams outside a Power Five Conference with at least three players competing.
