N.C. State Board of Elections approves University IDs for voting

UNC Charlotte employee and student ID cards are now approved for use as photo identification for voting under NCGS § 163-166.16(a) for the primaries and general election to be held in 2020.

The reauthorization of the federal Higher Education Act and the National Voter Registration Act includes a requirement that higher education institutions make a “good faith effort” to make voter registration forms available to all enrolled students. This federal legislation is consistent with and supports the University's long-standing goals of engendering leadership and citizenship among the student body.
