How to recognize, respond to micro-aggressions

Kathy Obear, founder of the Center for Transformation and Change, will present “Recognizing and Responding to Micro-aggressions on Campus” at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, in the Cone University Center, Lucas Room.

Members of the campus and greater community can register to attend this free event, sponsored by the Cato College of Education.

Obear, who holds a doctorate in social justice education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, is considered a leading expert in helping to establish socially just environments where everyone feels valued and respected. She has more than 30 years of experience specializing in conflict resolution, change management and creating inclusive environments. The author of three books, “Turn the Tide,” “…But I’m not Racist” and “In It for the Long Haul,” Obear has given speeches, facilitated training sessions and consulted to top leaders at hundreds of universities, human services organizations and corporations across the United States and internationally.
