Everybody deserves a place to call home, and the UNC Charlotte community is helping to ease Charlotte’s affordable housing crisis.
The Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter at UNC Charlotte will start construction on a Habitat for Humanity home during Homecoming week.
The on-campus build will be Tuesday, Sept. 24, through Friday, Oct. 4, at the corner of University City Boulevard and John Kirk Drive. Once the home is 50 percent complete, it will be moved to a permanent location. Volunteers will be divided into two shifts daily (except Sunday and Monday): 8 a.m. to noon and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
This Habitat for Humanity Homecoming Build encourages students, faculty and staff to unite around a meaningful volunteer opportunity and continue to build a culture of community service on campus. It also is an opportunity to raise awareness and foster dialogue about the importance of affordable housing in Charlotte and showcase the University’s commitment to giving back to the Charlotte community and highlight Habitat for Humanity’s dedication to provide simple, decent and affordable housing to all.

Advance registration is open now to the UNC Charlotte community; the general public can register starting Tuesday, Sept. 10.
