Eight students who represent a number of educational disciplines are this year’s recipients of the Thomas L. Reynolds Graduate Student Research Award.
The Reynolds Fellowship was created by its namesake, Associate Provost and Graduate School Dean Tom Reynolds, to assist with costs that are overlooked in other funding sources and to help students stay focused on their research goals. The Reynolds Fellowship provides up to $1,500 to doctoral students who have completed three semesters and to master’s students who have completed at least one semester.
The 2019-20 Reynolds Fellowship awardees are:
- Xueying Brown, Infrastructure and Environmental Systems, who is studying the role of environmental buffers in potable water reuse
- Kellie McCorvey, Business Administration, who is researching a moderated model for effects of organizational ethics on firm compliance behaviors and performance
- Neda Pouraskari, Educational Leadership, who is investigating adherence to Islamic dress code and hijabi Muslim students’ experiences of belonging, social adjustment and Islamophobia
- Courtney Rogers, Health Psychology, who is researching the feasibility and efficacy of a guided self-help intervention for body image
- Ashley Shults, Anthropology, who is studying migration and mobility in the Eastern Andes during the Terminal Archaic
- Elina Sukaryavichute, Geography, who is investigating impacts of light rail investments on commercial landscapes in transit neighborhoods
- Hemapriyadarshini Vadarevu, Nanoscale Science, who is researching a nanoparticle mediated sequential approach for improved therapy of triple negative breast cancer
- Wen Zhang, Mechanical Engineering, who is studying quantitatively tuning stress waves in granular crystals
“These students are doing some remarkable research, and these grants will help ensure they have the opportunity to think, to explore and to do their best work,” said Reynolds.
