Academic Affairs releases final exam options

Thursday, May 2, 2019

Due to the April 30 tragedy on campus, which occurred near the start of finals, the Office of Academic Affairs is providing two options for students to complete their courses for spring 2019.

Option 1: Students may forgo taking the final exam in any of their courses and accept their current course grade as their final grade.

Faculty have been asked to update Canvas and/or provide instructions about how to calculate current grades.

Students who choose this option do not need to contact their instructor. By not taking the exam, the course instructor will assume that this indicates students are accepting their current course grade as their final grade.

Option 2: Students may take their final exam and have that grade included in their final course grade.

Those who choose this option should be aware of the following changes to the exam schedule:

Exams that were scheduled for May 2-4 will be rescheduled for next week (as optional exams). All students will receive an email from the Office of the Registrar regarding the new time for these optional exams. Note that some exams may be scheduled from 8 to 10:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday (May 6-9), or the morning of Friday, May 10.

Exams originally scheduled for May 6-9 will be held at the same time and location as originally scheduled.
