Tuesday 8 a.m. exams moved to 8 p.m., University in Condition 1 early Tuesday

Monday, December 10, 2018

Exams scheduled for 8 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, have been moved to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11. All other exams will continue as scheduled. All exams scheduled for UNC Charlotte Center City will continue as scheduled.

Additional information will be shared with affected students and faculty by the University. Individuals should monitor their UNC Charlotte email accounts. Additionally, the exam schedule is available online and will be updated shortly.

The University will move to Condition 1 (C1) reduced operations from 12 a.m. to 8:59 a.m. Tuesday. All University operations will resume at 9 a.m. (Staff, see additional information below.)

This decision is being made because of expected lower temperatures overnight and into the early morning hours that may cause melted precipitation to refreeze, especially in areas that received more accumulation. However, temperatures are expected to warm quickly during the day Tuesday and sunshine is expected to be plentiful, allowing roadway conditions to dry and improve.

Remember, all members of the University community should use their best judgment when determining if their local weather conditions allow them to travel to campus safely and should put their safety first.

Students

  • Students who cannot make it to campus on Tuesday for their rescheduled exams should contact their professors directly to discuss possible accommodations.

Faculty

  • Instructors should discuss any travel issues and possible accommodations for exams with their department chair. Faculty members cannot cancel an exam, but they do have some flexibility in how the exam is administered. Refer to University Policy 202 regarding final examinations. Faculty requesting proctoring should email distanceed@uncc.edu for assistance.
  • Faculty are urged to be considerate of students who live in areas more affected by the winter storm.

Staff

  • Condition 1: In Condition 1, University offices are still open, and employees are expected to be at work if they are able. Non-mandatory employees unable to make it to work should contact their supervisors to discuss how they will account for missed time. Mandatory employees are expected to report to work as directed. Additional information about what to do in a condition change is available in this FAQ.
  • Campus Operations Resume: When all campus operations resume, staff are expected to report as scheduled. Staff who cannot make it to campus should contact their supervisors to discuss how they will account for missed time.
