UNC Charlotte employees are encouraged to participate in the first-ever Live United Day: All in for the Kids, a joint effort between United Way’s Hands On Charlotte, the Charlotte Chamber and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

Volunteer opportunities are available between 9 a.m. and noon, Friday, Aug. 17, at Morehead STEM Academy and Nathaniel Alexander Elementary. Activities range from beautifying the school grounds to helping reorganize storage closets. The goal of Live United Day is to help prepare high-need Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for the opening of the 2018-19 academic year.

“UNC Charlotte places a strong emphasis on community engagement, including employee volunteerism,” said Chancellor Philip L. Dubois. “It is part of our mission to address the cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health and social needs of our community. Volunteering together strengthens the 49er community and fosters teamwork,”

The University and the state of North Carolina support employees who are interested in volunteering during the workday through the Community Service Leave benefit; all permanent, full-time faculty and staff members, eligible to earn leave, have 24 hours during a calendar year for volunteer service, pro-rated for part-time employees and new hires.
