UNC Charlotte knows about innovation, and Ventureprise invites budding student entrepreneurs to participate in the 49er iChallenge, scheduled for Tuesday, April 3. Ventureprise is UNC Charlotte’s innovation and entrepreneurship center serving the University campus and the greater Charlotte region.

49er iChallenge is open to all UNC Charlotte undergraduate and graduate students; submissions can range from ideas on paper to developed prototypes. Participants will give a five-minute pitch, with slides, to a panel of Charlotte entrepreneurs who will choose the finalists and winner. The pitch is not based on a business plan, but participants are encouraged to research and explore their ideas as much as possible.

The winning entrant will receive a cash prize, and all runners-up named at the conclusion of the competition will showcase their innovations at the Charlotte Venture Challenge, a startup competition for early-stage, high-growth companies.

To assist prospective contestants, Ventureprise is holding an information session from 6 to 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 26, in PORTAL, Room 242. Dinner will be provided. Click here to sign up for the information session.

Applications to compete in the i49er Challenge are due Friday, March 2.

To help entrants prepare for the April 3 competition, Ventureprise will host a 49er iChallenge workshop on Tuesday, March 20; feedback on ideas and presentations will be offered at this event.
