Engineering student, professor win best paper

Wahida Nasrin receives a Best Paper Award

Doctoral student Wahida Nasrin and Associate Professor Jiang (Linda) Xie, both from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, won a Best Paper Award from the IEEE Global Communications Conference (Globecom), held in Singapore. Their winning paper was titled "An Efficient Target Cell Selection Scheme for Next-generation Open-access Femtocell Networks."

IEEE Globecom is one of the two flagship conferences and one of the two largest conferences of the IEEE Communications Society. Globecom 2017 received a total of 2,630 technical paper submissions, of which 1,026 were accepted. Among the 1,026 accepted papers, 33 were nominated for the Best Paper Award;15 were selected best papers by a committee of 10 distinguished researchers.
