Students ‘speak out’ about DACA

Wednesday, September 6, 2017

About 100 students attended a “speak out” in the Popp Martin Student Union Theater Wednesday, Sept. 6, to discuss the Trump administration’s decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Student organizers of the event said they wanted to provide a safe space for students, faculty and staff to discuss their reaction to the decision. Many participants shared emotional stories detailing their experiences as immigrants and concerns about potential impacts of the executive action.
