Assistant Professor of Costume Design Aly Amidei has designed the costumes for the upcoming production of “Her Majesty’s Will” at Lifeline Theatre in Chicago.

Based on the 2013 novel by David Blixt, the play is receiving its world premiere and runs May 26 through June 16.

Set in Elizabethan England, “Her Majesty’s Will” brings together William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe in a comedic adventure in which a cast of 10 actors play multiple roles. Amidei writes about the challenges of designing period costumes for a small cast and a lot of characters in this PerformInk article, published on May 17.

Amidei has been designing for Chicago theatre productions since 2000 and is a Lifeline Theatre company member. This spring, she was nominated for a Non-Equity Jeff Award for Costume Design for her designs for Northanger Abbey (pictured) at Lifeline Theatre. The awards, which honor excellence in Chicago theatre, will be presented on June 5.
