The PORTAL Building won the Design People’s Choice Award in the 2015 AIA Charlotte competition. A section of the American Institute of Architects, AIA Charlotte announced its design winners recently during a gala at the Foundation for the Carolinas.

The People’s Choice Awards involved an online vote open to AIA Charlotte members, allied members and the public.

LaBella Associates served as the architect for the PORTAL Building. PORTAL stands for Partnership, Outreach and Research to Accelerate Learning. The 96,000-square-foot facility, which opened in early 2014, is an example of the University’s commitment to foster partnerships with private industry. The facility is designed to stimulate business growth and job creation along with promoting research and innovation.
