49ers for Life blood drive sets new record

Wednesday, January 30, 2013

The student-led 49ers for Life blood drive, held earlier this month, was a record-setting event with 887 units collected for the American Red Cross. In 2012, the drive yielded 871 units. The number of individuals who signed up to donate also increased from 930 to 970.

The drive, held in conjunction with the American Red Cross, was organized by a number of student organizations. Each year, colleges across the state compete to collect the most units of donated blood; for 2013, UNC Charlotte organizers had set a goal of 1,000 units.
